SPEED CONTROL LEVER The speed control lever, locatedon the left side of the tractor's dash console, allowsyou to regulate the ground speed of the lawn tractor. To use, depressthe clutch- brake pedaland movethe lever out of the parking brake notchand forwardto increasethe tractor's groundspeed.
Gas and Oil Fill=up 0il iMPORTANT: Yourtractor is shipped with motoroil in the engine. However, you MUST check the oil level before operating. Be careful not to overfill. For instructions on how to check the engineoil, refer to Checking The EngineOil in the Serviceand Maintenance section of this manual.
REVERSE CAUTION MODE Use extreme cautionwhile operating the tractor in the REVERSE CAUTION MODE. Always look down and behindbefore and while backing. Do not operate the tractor when children or othersare around. Stop the tractor immediately if someone entersthe area.
STOPPING THE ENGINE If you strike a foreign object, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire(s) and groundagainstthe engine. Thoroughly inspect the machine for any damage.Repair the damage before restarting and operating 1. If the blades are engaged, place the PTO (Blade Engage) lever in the disengaged (OFF) position.
A mulchkit can be purchased, See the Replacement Parts& Attach- ments section of this manual for more information. USING THE DECK LIFT LEVER To raise the cutting deck, movethe deck lift lever to the left, then place it in the notchbest suitedfor your application.
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Before performing any typeof maintenance/service, disengage all controls and stop the engine. Waituntil all moving partshave come to a complete stop. Disconnect sparkplug wire andground it against the engine to prevent unintended starting.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE Checking the Engine Oil Only use high qualitydetergent oil rated with API service classification SF,SG, SH, or S J, Selectthe oil's SAEviscositygradeaccordingto the expected operating temperature. Followthe chart below. Although multi-viscosity oils (5W20,10W30, etc.
Fuel Filter Air Cleaner Gasoline and its vaporsare extremely flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion can causesevereburns or death. • Keepgasoline awayfrom sparks,open flames,pilot lights, heat, and other ignition sources. • Check fuel lines, tank, cap, and fittingsfrequently for cracks or leaks.
Spark Plug 1. Clean areaaroundthe spark plug base.Do not sandblast spark plug, Spark plug should be cleaned by scrapingor wire brushing and washing with a commercial solvent Remove and inspect the spark plug. Check gap to makesure it is set at .030".
CLEANING THE ENGINE AND DECK Any fuel or oil spilled on the machineshould be wiped off promptly. Do NOTallow debris to accumulate aroundthe cooling fins of the engine or on any other part of the machine. IMPORTANT: The use of a pressure washer to clean your tractor is NOT recommended.

If your tractor has not been put into use for an extendedperiodof time, charge the battery as follows: 1. Set your battery charger to deliver a max of 10amperes. If your battery charger is automatic, charge the battery until the charger indicates that charging is complete.
