3 Modules The 34980A implements a superior selection of switch topologies. The 34980A swit ch topologies are similar t o 3499A/B/C switch modules and include multiplex ers, matrixes, high-po w er , general purpose, and RF/micro wav e switches.

5 User Interface The 34980A of fers the most modern instr ument I/O options for inter facing a controller PC wit h the switch system: GPIB, USB and L AN. All three Input/Output inter face connections come standard with the 34980A mainframe. If you choose t o modify or upgrade your test system I/O, the 34980A is system ready.
6 W eb Page Interface The 34980A comes wit h a built-in detailed instr ument w eb page that allo ws you t o remot ely connect and communicate with the mainframe and installed modules. Y ou establish a L AN connection, eit her directly between t he 34980A and PC, or from the 34980A to an existing Local Area Netw ork.

8 Scan Feature The scan feature is a sequence of alternating swit ch closures and measurements. This feature is pro vided by bot h the 34980A and a 3499A/B/C combined wit h a DMM or ot her measurement instrument.
9 Monitor Feature The 34980A monit or feature allo ws you t o monit or readings acquired by the switch/measure system. Y ou can also monitor readings acquired wit h t he 34980A internal DMM.
10 Switch and Measurement Connections Most often, t est syst ems must be f lexible enough to be easily mov ed to a new location or modified for different devices under test. Having a remo vable wiring ter minal block or a pre-wired cable is optimal in t hese situations.
11 Summary Although the 3499A/B/C Switch/Control system has been a great addition to many test systems, the new 34980A now offers an even better module selection plus measurement capability , standard PC connections f or communication, and is easy to connect to modules.
