3 1 Position harness to fit infant: - Shoulder harness straps must be through shoulder harness slots at or just below infant’ s shoulders. - Infant insert MUST be used for small infants. See “Operations and Adjustments” section to change position of harness.
National Highway T raffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) alerts vehicle owners that according to accident statistics, children up to age 12 are safer when properly restrained in the rear seating positions rather than the front seating positions. Refer to vehicle owner ’ s manual for car seat installation instructions for your vehicle.
LA TCH System On This Car Seat: The LA TCH System on the T yro ™ Car Seat consists of a lower anchor belt with lower anchor connectors . The lower anchor connectors on the car seat connect to the LA TCH System in a vehicle.
13 Attaching Infant Car Seat T o Base: V erify that there are no objects on top of base or between base and infant car seat. Lower car seat into base and push down on car seat to lock car seat into base (fig. b) . T est to be sure car seat is locked in base.
15 Attach car seat to base. Adjust recline using recline indicator on the side of the car seat. Line of recline indicator MUST be in green striped zone (fig. e) . If line is not in green striped zone, adjust base (see “Base Adjustment” section), and recheck recline of car seat.
17 Securing Base With V ehicle Seat Belt: Refer to vehicle owner ’ s manual to identify the seating locations which can be used with a car seat. Check for specific instructions for car seat use. After selecting a seating location, adjust vehicle seat back into most upright position.

23 Harness Use and Adjustment Harness Strap Adjustment: •T o tighten: Pull front adjuster strap (fig. a) . •T o loosen: While pressing harness adjuster lever , pull harness straps out. Chest Clip Operation: •T o open: Press tabs and pull apart (fig.
25 To provide a secure installation of the car seat: • Read the vehicle owner ’ s manual regarding car seat installation and vehicle seat belt use with car seat.
27 Lap belts with retractors (fig. d) may or may not hold a car seat securely . Follow these steps to determine if you have a retractor system that will hold car seat securely: a. Pull belt all the way out. b. Allow belt to retract about 6 inches (15 cm).
The vehicle lap belt must be tight around the car seat and must stay tight. Check for a secure installation - pull front to back and side to side. If the car seat is not tightly secured, remove the belt lock-off and repeat steps 1 and 2.
31 Cleaning Seat: T o Remove Seat Pad: 1. Remove shoulder harness. 2. Slide seat pad from car seat by gently pulling it of f the top of car seat back. T o Launder Pad: 1. Machine wash separately in cold water - delicate cycle, no bleach, and drip dry .
