Tips for envir onmental protection T o save water , ener gy and to help protect the envir onment, we r ecommend that you follow these tips: • Normally soiled laundry may be washed without pr ewashing in order to save deter gent, water and time (the environment is pr otected too!).

13 P ositions 60E-40E corr espond to the ENERGY SAVING progr ammes for normally soiled cotton laundry , extended washing time. The washing temper ature will decr ease (cannot be combined with QUICK). P osition COLD = cold wash. ON/OFF button Pr ess this button to switch the machine on.
Pr ogr amme Option buttons Depending on the pr ogramme, differ ent functions can be combined. These must be selected after choosing the desir ed progr amme and befor e depressing the ST ART/P AUSE button. When these buttons ar e pressed, the corr esponding pilot lights come on.
PREW ASH The machine performs a pr ewash cycle at 30°C max. The prewash cycle ends with a short spin in pr ogrammes for Cotton and Easy-car es, and with emp- tying of the water only for Delicates. This option is not available with the W ool and Handwash progr ammes, Minipr ogramme and cannot be used with ST AIN.
Display The display shows the following information: • Dur ation of the selected progr amme (in hours and minutes) , calcu- lated automatically on the basis of the maximum r ecommended load for each type of fabric. • When the pr ogramme has finished, a blinking lit zer o is displayed.
Altering an option/pr ogr amme which is running T o alter an option, first set the machine to P AUSE by pr essing the ST ART/PAUSE button. Any option can be modified befor e the machine starts it. After select- ing the new option pr ess the START/P AUSE button again to r estart the selected pr ogramme.
Deter gent dispenser drawer Compartment for pr ewash detergent and stain r emover . The pr ewash deter- gent is added at the beginning of the wash pr ogramme. The stain r emover is added during the ST AIN-Action phase in the main wash. Compartment for powder or liquid deter gent used for main wash.
Pr eparing the wash cycle Sorting out and pr eparing the laundry • Sort out the laundry accor ding to type of fabrics and care labels (see “T ypes of fabric and car e labels”). • Empty pockets. • Remove any metal parts (safety pins, clips, etc.
W eight of laundry T ypes of fabric and car e labels The labels on garments help you to select the most suitable wash pr ogramme. The laundry should be sorted out accor ding to the type of fabric and the instructions indicated on car e labels. T emperatur es indicated on labels ar e always maximum temperatur es.
Delicates Micr ofibres, easy-car es or curtains marked with these symbols r equire a very gentle tr eatment. The DELICA TES progr amme is suitable for this type of fabric. W oollens and particularly delicate items Fabrics such as wool, wool mix or silk marked with this symbol ar e particu- larly sensitive to machine washing.
22 Deter gents and additives Which deter gent?.... T o ensure you obtain the best wash r esults fr om your appliance, it is impor- tant to use the right deter gent in your everyday wash, and only detergents r ecommended for use in automatic machines.
And in which form? Not only ar e there differ ent types of deter gent, but they are also available in differ ent forms. Whether you chose a powder or liquid in traditional or com- pact form is your own per sonal choice. TRADITIONAL POWDERS P our the powder directly into the dispenser dr awer .
How to wash Load the laundry Open the door . Place the laundry in the drum, one item at a time. Distribute laundry as even- ly as possible. Close the door . Add deter gent and additive Pull the dr awer out till it stops. P our the main wash deter gent into compartment .
Selection of the desir ed wash pr ogramme T urn the progr amme selector dial to the desir ed position: the lights corresponding to the differ ent phases making up the selected pr ogramme light up.
Starting the pr ogr amme 1. Check that the water tap is open. 2. Pr ess START/P AUSE to start the pr ogramme. If the Delay Start option has been selected the pr ogramme will start at the end of the countdown.
27 How to wash At the end of the pr ogr amme The machine stops automatically . A blinking zer o appear s on the display . The END light comes on in the pr ogramme pr ogr ess display , the ST ART/PAUSE light is off.
28 Pr ogramme chart W ash pr ogrammes In compliance with EC dir ective 92/75, the consumption figures indicated on the ener gy label refer to the “ 60E ” wash pr ogramme for cotton.
Pr ogramme chart Special pr ogr ammes * The consumption data shown on this chart is to be used as a guide only , as it may vary depending on the quantity and type of laundry , on the inlet water tem- per ature and on the ambient temper ature. It r efers to the highest temper ature for each wash pr ogramme.
Cleaning and maintenance After each wash At the end of the wash pr ogramme, pull the dispenser dr awer out a little to let it dry . Leave the door ajar to allow air to cir culate. If the machine is not used for a pr olonged period: Close the water tap and unplug the appliance.
T o remove the dr awer fr om the machine, press the button in the r ear left- hand corner . T o facilitate cleaning, the top part of the additive compartment can be r emoved. Deter gent can also accumulate inside the draw- er r ecess: clean it with an old toothbrush.
W ater inlet filter If you notice that the machine is taking longer to fill, check that the filter in the water inlet hose is not blocked. T urn off the water tap. Unscr ew the hose from the tap. T o do this, depr ess the small yellow button on the hose.
Something not working? If, during the spin cycle, the machine makes an unusual whistling noise, differ ent from the noise made by tr aditional washing machines, this is due to a new type of motor . If water is not visible in the drum, this is due to the modern technology of new washing machines that use less water than tr aditional machines.

45 Installation Unpacking All tr ansit bolts and packing must be removed befor e using the appliance. Using the supplied spanner , unscr ew and r emove the rear right-hand bolt and lay the machine on its back, taking car e not to squash the hoses. This can be avoided by placing one of the corner packing pieces between the machine and the floor .
Set the machine upright and r emove the two r emaining bolts fr om the back. Pull out the thr ee plastic spacer s from the holes into which the bolts wer e fit- ted. Plug the open holes with the plugs which you will find in the plastic bag containing the instruction booklet.
W ater inlet (cold water connection only) Connect the hose to a tap with a 3/4” thr ead. Installation should comply with local water authority and building r egulations’ r equirements. Set the hose corr ectly by loosening the ring nut. After positioning the inlet hose, be sur e to tighten the ring nut again to pr event leaks.
When dischar ging into a stand- pipe ensur e that the top of the standpipe is no mor e than 90 cm (35.4'') and no less than 60 cm (23.6'') above floor level. The dr ain hose may be extend- ed to a maximum of 4 metr es. An additional dr ain hose and joining piece is available fr om your local Service For ce Centre.
In the inter est of the envir onment W ashing machines and dish- washer s should be connected to the FOUL dr ainage system, the water will then be taken to a sewage works for tr eat- ment befor e being discharged safely into a river .
If you fit your own plug, the colour s of the wires in the mains lead of your appliance may not corr espond with the markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pr oceed as follows: Connect the gr een and yellow (earth) wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter «E» or the earth symbol or colour ed gr een and yellow .
51 Building-in This appliance has been designed to be built into the kitchen furnitur e. The r ecess should have the dimen- sions shown in pictur e A. When installing the appli- ance into the kitchen furni- tur e ensure, if possible, the hoses ar e placed in either of the two r ecesses on the back of the appliance.
b) Hinges T o mount the hinges it is necessary to drill two holes (dia. 35 mm, depth 12.5-14 mm) on the inner side of the door . The distance between the holes hobs fixing centr es must be 4 16 mm. The distance (B) fr om upper edge of the door to the centr e of the hole depends on the adjacent furnitur e's dimensions.

With the appliance installed adjust all four feet ensuring the machine is stable, and a clear ance of approximately 5 mm is left between the top of the machine and the under side of the worktop.
