5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using for the first time • Follow the ”Instructions for install ation an d connectio n” . • If the appliance is deliver ed in th e winter months when there ar e mi- nus temper atures: Stor e the washin g machine at r oom temperatur e for 24 hour s before using for the fir st time.
6 Gener al safety • Repair s to the washing machine must only be carried out by qualified service engineer s. • Never use the washing machine if th e mains cable is damaged; or if the contr ol panel, work top or plin th ar ea is damaged such that the inside of the appliance is fr eely accessible.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 1 litr e of water through the deter gent drawer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next progr amme is started and the economy valve can function pr operly .
11 Running a washing cycle Opening the door/Loa ding the washing 1. T o open the door: gently pull the handle on the d oor . When the machine is switched on, the lights (DOOR) and (STA RT/PAUSE) indicate whether the door can be opened: 2. Unfold washing and load it loosely into the machine.
12 1. Pull the detergent dispenser dr awer out as far as the stop. 2. Add the detergent/additives. 3. Push the drawer in fully . W ashing powder/tablets for the main wash If you ar e using water softener and need the right-hand compartment for the pre-wash deter gent, add the water softener to the main wash detergent in the left-hand compartment.
13 Changing the spin speed/Selecting rinse hold The washing machine suggests the maximum permitted speed that is suitable for the selected pro- gr amme. Y ou can reduce this speed: Pr ess the s pin/ (RINSE HOLD) button a number of times until the desir ed indicator lights up.
14 W arm pre-wash befor e the main wash cycle which follows automat i- cally; with intermediate spinning for (CO TTONS/LINEN) and (EASY -CARES), without intermediate spinning for (DELICATES). For heavily soiled or stained items. Stain treatment is rinsed in at an optimal time in the progr amme.
15 Pr ogr amme progr ess • The pr ogramme pr ogress display shows the pr ogramme step that is curr ently being carried out. – (Pr ewash) – (Main wash) – (Rinse) – (Extr a Rinse) – (Spin) – (End) • The multi-display shows the estima ted time r emaining (in hours and minutes) until the en d of the progr amme.
16 If (RINSE HOLD) has been selected: Following a rinse hold (END) will be lit o n the progr amme progr ess display . The water must fir st be drained off: – Either turn the pr ogramme knob to (OFF).
17 Cleaning and maintenance Important! Do not use furnitur e care pr odu cts or aggressive cleaner s to clean the appliance. Wipe control panel and body with a damp cloth. Deter gent dispenser dr awer The deter gent dispenser drawer should be cleaned r egularly .
18 What to do if... Remedying small malfunctions If during use of the appliance one of the following error codes is shown in the multi-display: – E10 (Problems with water inflow), – E20 (Problems with water outflow), – E40 (door open), please have a look at the following table.
19 The washing machin e vibrates when operating or is no t stable. The transit bar has not been rem o v e d . Remove th e transit bar . The screw feet have not been adjusted properly . Adjust the feet in accordance with the installatio n and connection instructions.
20 If the wash r esults ar e not satisfactory W ashing is gr ey and scale is being deposited in the drum • T oo little detergent is being used. • The right deter gent was not used. • Special soiling was not pr e-trea ted. • Pr ogramme or temper ature was not corr ectly set.
21 There ar e white r esidues on the washing. • This is due to the insoluble in gredients in modern deter gents. They ar e not caused by insufficient rinsing. Shake or brush the wash ing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing. Check yo ur choice of deter ge nt.
22 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e. g. if th e pump wheel is blocked. Please make sure befor e loading th e washing that ther e ar e no foreign bodies in the pockets or caught between the washing.
23 Disposal 2 P ackaging material The packaging materials ar e environmentally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components ar e id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at the community waste disposal facilities.

25 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information for the installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being tr anspor ted. Do not under any circumstanc- es connect an appliance that is damaged.
26 Installing the appliance T r ansporting the appliance 1 Wa r n i n g ! The washing machine is very heavy . Risk of injury . Be careful when lifting. • Do not lay the appliance on its fr on t nor on its right side (as seen fr om the f r ont). Electrical components may get wet.
27 3 Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 off) and C (1 off) are supplied with the appliance. 3. Remove scr ew D with its compres- sion spring using special spanner A. 4. T urn sealing cap C upside down as shown in the illustr ation. 5. Seal hole using sealing cap C.
28 If the appliance is to stan d on a plinth : In or der for the appliance to be se- cur e on the plinth, fixing plates*) must be mounted, into which the appliance is inserted. If the appliance is to stan d on fl oors that vibrate, e. g. floors of wooden joists with deal boa rds: If possible, install the applianc e in one corner of the room.
29 Electrical connection Details about the voltage, type of supply and the fuses requir ed are to be found on the rating plate. The r ating plate is next to the doorway . Connecting to the water supply Important! • This appliance must not be connected to the hot water system.
30 W ater inflow A 1.50 m long pr essure hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer water inlet hose is r equired, only original hoses ar e to be used. The Customer Car e Department stocks hose kits of different lengths. 3 Sealing rings ar e either inserted in th e plastic nuts of the threaded hose fitting or are included as spar e pa rts .
31 W ater drainage The maximum permitted differ ence be tween the height of the surface on which the appliance is installe d and the water outlet is 1 metr e. Only original hoses may be used to extend hoses. (A maximum of 3 m laid on the floor and then 80 cm ve rtically).
