Applications The built-in sensors of this watch measure direction, barometric pressure, temperature and altitude.
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 2 Radio-controlled Atomic Timekeeping This watch receives a time calibr ation signal and updates its time setting accordingly .
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 3 • The watch receives the calibr ation signal for tw o to sev en minutes e v eryday when the time in the Timekeeping Mode reaches each of the calibr ation times. Do not perform any button operation within se ven min utes bef ore or after any one of the calibration times .
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 4 To enter and exit the Digital Compass Mode 1. While in the Timekeeping Mode or in any of the other sensor modes, press C to enter the Digital Compass Mode. • At this time, the watch will start a Digital Compass operation.
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 5 Precautions about bidirectional calibration • Y ou can use any two opposing directions for bidirectional calibr ation. Y ou must, how ev er , mak e sure that they are 180 degrees opposite each other . Remember that if you perf orm the procedure incorrectly , you will get wrong bearing sensor readings.
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 6 To determine the direction angle to an objective on a map and head in that direction 1. Set the map so its nor therly indication is aligned with north as indicated by the watch, and determine your current location.
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 7 Altimeter The watch ’ s altimeter uses a pressure sensor to detect current air pressure , which is then used to estimate the current altitude based on ISA (International Standard Atmosphere) preset values .

T o stop an ongoing sav e session, hold down A f or about one second until REC disappears from the screen. • The save session also will stop automatically when P eriodic Record 40 is stored. • The watch updates the historical record continually while an altitude measurement operation is in progress .
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 9 3. In the Altimeter Mode, press E to take an altitude reading. • This causes the altitude differential v alue to appear at the top of the display .
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 10 Stopwatch The stopwatch lets you measure elapsed time , split times, and two finishes . • The display r ange of the stopwatch is 23 hours , 59 minutes , 59.99 seconds. • The stopwatch continues to run, restarting from zero after it reaches its limit, until y ou stop it.
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 11 About the Auto Light Switc h T urning on the auto light switch causes illumination to turn on, whenev er you position your wrist as described below in any mode. Note that this watch f eatures a “ Full A uto EL Light ” , so the auto light s witch operates only when av ailable light is belo w a certain level.
Operation Guide 3070 ( B ) 12 Important! • Storing the watch for long periods in an area where there is no light or wearing it in such a wa y that it is block ed from e xposure to light can cause rechargeable battery power to run down. Be sure that the watch is exposed to bright light whenev er possible.
