General Guide E-3 CAUTION • Make sure that the cover is ful ly open whenever you are play ing on the keyboard. A partially open cover can suddenly close unexpectedly and pinch your fingers. NO TE • The names shown here are always indicated in bold when they appear within the text of this manual.
E-4 P o wer Supply Your digital piano runs on standard household power. Be sure to turn off power whe never you are not using the digital piano. 1. Make sure that the POWER button is in the OFF position (raised). 2. Connect the power cord that comes with the digital piano to the AC powe r jack on the bottom of the digital piano.
E-5 Connections IMPORT ANT! • Whenever connecting something to the digita l piano, first use the VOLUME controller to set the volume to a low level. After connecting, you can adjust the vol ume to the level you want. Connect commercially available head phones to the PHONES jack.
E-6 Pla ying with Different T ones This digital piano has 11 built- in tones. * You can select these tones using key board keys. The name of the tones as signed to each keyboard key is marked above the keys. Fo r details about selecting these tones, see “Selecting a Tone Using the Keyboard Keys” on page E-7.
Playing with Different Tones E-7 Selecting a Tone Us ing the Keyboard Keys ■ Bass Tones (BASS 1, BASS 2) Selecting eith er of the two bass t ones (BASS 1, BASS 2) on th e right side of the tone setting keys in step 1 of the above procedure will assign the selected bass tone to the low ra nge (left sid e) of the keyboard.

E-10 Playing with Differen t Tones 1. Press the METRONOME button. • This starts the metronome. • The lamp above the SONG X / button flash in time with the metronome beat. 2. To change the beat, hold down the TONE/ SETTING but ton as you press one of the METRONOME BEAT keys to select a beat setting.
Playing with Different Tones E-11 You can use the Duet Mode to split the piano’s keyboard in the center so two people can play a duet. The left and right side keyb oards have virtually the same range. The left pedal operates as the left side damper pedal, while the r ight pedal is the ri ght side damper pedal.
E-12 Pla ying Bac k Built-in Songs IMPORT ANT! • After you select a built-in s ong, it can take a numb er of seconds for the song data to be loaded. While the data i s being loaded, the keyboard ke ys and button operations will be disabled.

To stop playback, press the SO NG X / button again. • Playback will stop automatically when the end of the song is reached. NO TE • Pressing the + and – keys at the same time will select song number 01.
E-14 Recor ding and Pla y Bac k You can store the notes you play in digital piano memory for later playback. A track is a container of recorded data, and a song consists of two tracks: Track 1 and Track 2. You can record each track separately and then combine them so they play back together as a single s ong.
Recording and Play Back E-15 After recording to either of the tracks of a song, you ca n record to the other track while listening to playback what you recorded in the first track. To record to a speci fic track of a song 1. Press the RECORDER button twice so its lamp is flashing.
E-16 Recording and Play Back To record to one track of a song while listening to the pl ayback of the other track 1. Press the RECORDER button so its lamp is lit. 2. Press the LR button until t he lamp of only the track to which you want to play back is lit.
Recording and Play Back E-17 The following procedur e deletes a specific track of a song. IMPORT ANT! • The procedure below deletes all of the data of the selected track. Note tha t the delete o peration cannot be undone. Check to ma ke sure you really do not need the data in digital pi ano memory before you pe rform the following steps.

Use the “Parameter List” on page E-20 to find the setting you want to configure, and note its details.

E-24 Assembling the Stand PREP ARA TION • This stand does not include any of the tools required for assembly. It is up to you to prepa re a large Philips head (+) screwdriver for assembly. IMPORT ANT! • If anything is missing or damag ed, contact your local CASIO service provider.

Use the two screws I to secure the top left and right edges of the back panel C to the brackets 5 of side panels A and B . • At location 6 , slip the G clip onto to the I screw before installing the screw. 4. Next, secure the bottom of the back pan el C with the six F screws.
E-26 Assembling the Stand 7. First, use the two H butterfly bolts to secure the back of the piano to the stand. Next, use the two K screws to secure the front of the piano. IMPORT ANT! • The butterfly bolts H and screws K keep the piano from slipping off th e stand.
