13 COMPRESSOR A cutaway view of the rotary compr essor with key component s labele d is sho wn in Figure 27. Th e motor stator is rigidly attached to the compressor shell. The rotor is p ressed onto the e ccentric shaft, which is sup- port ed by 2 bearin gs.

52C , P SERIES 18 HEA TERS The heater in 52C,P uni t s is located directly behind the evap orator coi l. The heater a ssembly incl udes the heater (2.3 k W, 3.4 kW o r 5 kW), a primary limit switch, and a secondary limit switch. See Figure 34. 52C , P SERIES 20 OPERA TIN G CONTROLS UNIT -MOUNTED CONTR OLS The controls and compone nts used in the 52C,P cool- ing only or heat/cool units are as follo ws: the selec- tor switch, the indoor thermostat, the dual capacitor, the tempe rature lim iter, the ve nt lever, and the fan cycle switch.

52C , P SERIES 26 ■ OU TDOOR FROST THERM OST A T (Heat Pump Units) (Figure 50A and 50B) — The Outdoor Frost Thermo stat (OFT ) is a t hermostat that u ses a sin gle- pole switch with a manual override selector.
27 5. The reading on the meter should first indicate zero, or a lo w resistance , then slowly ri se toward infinit y or some high val u e or measurabl e re sis- tance.
52C , P SERIES 28 4. Remove the thermost at capillary from the out door coil and clip any wire ties holding the capillary in place. 5. Disconnect the wires and carefully remove the thermostat an d capillary from the unit, noting location of wires for easy re-assembly.
29 F AN MOTOR The fan motor is a permanent split capacitor (PSC) type motor. This motor is common in air-conditioning syst em ap pl icat ions. A PSC m oto r do es no t r equi re the use of a relay and always has a run capacitor con- nected be tween the run a nd start wi ndi ngs of the motor .
